Mayfield Parish Council has been in discussion with Staffordshire County Council (SCC) for a while about how best to undertake the much-needed repair work needed to footpath 25 on The Ginnel. SCC has now re-tarmacked part of the footpath, where tree roots have intruded and raised the surface, made good the level around the manhole cover and replaced the old barriers with a bike inhibitor.

The bike inhibitor – also suggested by one of the residents – is designed to allow walkers, wheelchairs and push chairs to pass through whilst preventing people riding through on bikes, motorbikes or horses. MPC agreed a token financial contribution to the work in order to bring it forward on the SCC schedule
